1.1-1.2 and 3.1, due on September 1

1. The proofs were difficult for me.  I sometimes can follow the logic, but don't understand how they prove what they are intending too, or find that they would require deeper thinking to understand.  Hopefully as the class progresses I will learn how important understanding the proofs are, versus using the principles they prove.
2. Much of what we have read so far relates to what I learned in CS 465.  It is good to have a review though.  I don't remember a lot of the math from CS 465, but the reading from these sections seems familiar.  I appreciate how it is presented, and I think, so far at least, there is enough detail that I can go back and look at relevant sections more carefully to complete the homework assignments.  I also think the examples will be helpful.
